Cage Creations Build Instructions

Here you find a few of the instructions/guides to help with putting your cages, bases or kitchen items together. We hope that you find them useful.

Instructions for C&C Cages

The cages are straightforward to put together though be aware that the connectors can be a little tight so you may want a rubber mallet or even just put on some gloves to help push the grids into the connectors.

  1. Unpack the grids, connectors and cable ties. Keep them close to hand.
  2. Insert the first grid into a connector. You may need a little force but the tightness creates a stronger frame. Now attach another connector so you have 2 along the same edge.
  3. Insert another grid into one of the connectors attached to the first grid. Attach another connector to the corner along the same edge.
  4. Attach a connector at the top joining the 2 grids together along the top edge.
  5. Repeat this process, attaching grids and connectors as above until you have the desired length and width of cage you desire. Remember the cage size refers to the number of grids along the length and width (eg a 2x4 cage is 2 grids wide and 4 grids long)
  6. You can use cable ties, supplied, to secure the grids together. This is an extra step that some customers like to do but is not essential.

Once you have the grids connected you can now put the base together.

Our bases are very simple to put together but here are the few necessary steps required just to be clear.

  1. Unfold the correx base.
  2. Locate the 2 strips of Velcro coins for securing the base corners/joins. There are usually a couple extra just in case.
  3. The 4 corners should already be cut and scored to create 4 “flaps” at the end of the long sides.
    1. Fold these flaps so they lay on top of the long base side.
    2. Attach 2 velcro coins, hook or loop, near the side edge, the edge you folded over.
    3. Stick the opposite, hook or loop, velcro coin onto the affixed coin with the sticky side up, be careful they are very sticky.
    4. Repeat A-C at the other end of that base side.
    5. Fold up the side and 1 end and now unfold the “flap” and press firmly, affixing the velcro coin to the base end. Repeat for the other end. The flaps will be on the inside of the base. This is the preferred method for constructing the cage.

Now insert the base into the grid cage arrangement. The base is designed to be quite a tight fit and will sit on the edges of the connectors. The reason for this is to maximise the internal space and so there isn’t a gap between the base and grid where bedding etc can get stuck.

CAGE COMPLETED!

Instructions for C&C Cage Lid

The lids are straightforward to put together though be aware that the connectors can be a little tight so you may need to take your time to help push the clips & connectors onto the grids

Unpack the grids, connectors and cable ties. Keep them close to hand.

First action is to decide which side of the cage the hinged edge will be. Now, make sure the connectors of the cage are in a vertical orientation, sticking up, and not horizontal.

Get a door grid and standard grid and lay them down the same way (grid is attached on one side of the panel.

Using 2 of the white connectors attach a door grid to a standard grid, attaching the “non hinged” end of the door grid. These are VERY tight so take care and take your time.

Repeat for all the grids. You should now have X amount of sets of door and standard grids connected together (X = grid length of cage)

Get one of the sets. Now attach black connectors to the 4 corners of the standard grid panel, flat side facing down.

Get the next set and connect the standard grids together, side by side, with the black connectors.

Repeat this process for the remaining sets.

Place black connectors on the “outside” of the final set so all standard grid panels have connectors in all 4 corners

Now, place the lid onto the cage and slide the door “hinge” into the upright connectors on the cage.

Your lid is now complete. You can use zip ties to connect each set with the next one for added strength, but this is now essential.

Instructions for Correx Bases

    6. This is our preferred method but you can alter it so that the flaps are on the outside of the base ends.

Instructions for Correx Kitchens

Our kitchens are very simple to put together but here are the few necessary steps required just to be clear.

  1. Unfold the correx kitchen.
  2. Locate the 2 strips of Velcro coins for securing the base corners/joins. There are usually a couple extra.
  3. The 4 corners should already be cut and scored to create 4 “flaps” at the end of the long sides.
    1. Fold the 2 larger flaps so they lay on top of the long sides.
    2. Attach 2 velcro coins, hook or loop, near the side edges, the edges you folded over.
    3. Stick the opposite, hook, or loop, velcro coin onto the affixed coin with the sticky side up, be careful they are very sticky.
    4. Fold up each side in turn and the end and now unfold the “flap” and press firmly, affixing the velcro coin to the base end. The flaps will be on the inside of the kitchen.
    5. For the smaller flaps, do not fold over, attach the coins as per b & c above but then fold around the outside of sides. This helps keep the structure.
  4. Slide on the nibble guard along the low side of the kitchen.
  5. This is our preferred method but you can alter it so that the larger flaps are on the outside of the base ends.

Instructions for Correx Corner Kitchens

Our corner kitchens are very simple to put together but here are the few necessary steps required just to be clear.

  1. Unfold the correx kitchen.
  2. Locate the 2 strips of Velcro coins for securing the base corners/joins. There are usually a couple extra.
  3. The 3 corners should already be cut and scored to create 3 “flaps” at the end of the long sides.
    1. Attach 2 velcro coins, hook or loop, near the side edge of the larger “flap”.
    2. Stick the opposite, hook or loop, velcro coin onto the affixed coin with the sticky side up, be careful they are very sticky.
    3. Fold up the side fold the “flap” around the outside and press firmly, affixing the velcro coins together.
    4. Attach 1 or 2 velcro coins, in a similar way to steps “a/b, to the small “flaps”. Fold around the sides and press firmly, as per step “c”.
  4. Slide on the nibble guard along the low side of the kitchen.
  5. This is our preferred method but you can alter it so that the larger flaps are on the outside of the base ends.

Instructions for Correx Hay Barn

Our bases are very simple to put together but here are the few necessary steps required just to be clear.

  1. Unfold the correx hay barn
  2. Locate the 2 strips of Velcro coins for securing the base corners/joins. There are usually a couple extra just in case.
  3. The 4 corners should already be cut and scored to create 4 “flaps” at the end of the long sides.
    1. Fold these “flaps” back in on themselves.
    2. Attach 2 velcro coins, hook or loop, near the side edge, the edge you folded over.
    3. Stick the opposite, hook or loop, velcro coin onto the affixed coin with the sticky side up, be careful they are very sticky.
    4. Repeat A-C for the other side.
    5. Fold up the side and 1 end and now unfold the “flap” and press firmly, affixing the velcro coin to the base end. Repeat for the other end. The flaps will be on the inside of the hay barn.
  4. If you have more than 1 hay barn you can join them together. Using the extra velcro coins affix them, similarly to steps “b”/”c”, to one hay barn on the sides with a hole. Line up with the other hay barn and squeeze them together.
  5. This is our preferred method but you can alter it so that the flaps are on the outside of the base ends.
