The HayMate, part of the CandE Cosies CageMate range, is a fantastic addition to any guinea pig C&C cage. Creating an area for piling up hay at the end of a C&C cage or, given its design, perfect for use in a 2x1 loft. A HayMate allows you to pile up the hay but keep it well contained as we all know piggies love to bury inside hay mounds. These are ready made and ready to go.
Our Revised HayMates are exceptionally high quality with the following features:
- Made of high quality waterproof Oxford fabric with fully seamed joins inside to ensure it is waterproof for all those inenvitable weeing moments in the hay.
- All edges are bias bound in matching trim to give a premium finish.
- Easy to attach thanks to the unique Tension hooks in the corners and conveniently located metal eyelets at the "open ends" for fastening easily (split rings and snap hooks supplied)
- Our unique ventiation holes along the bottom edge of the "enclosed ends". Piggies will wee in the hay, you know they will, and these holes allow some airflow through the hay reducing the risk of ammonia build up.
This HayMate is sized to fit within a 2x1 C&C area and has one side of the front face open to allow access. When used in a loft, it should be used in addition to the normal base. The lip is low enough for piggies to easily climb over and is again bias bound for a premium finish. Not only so that the HayMate remains strong but also is soft on the piggies tummies.

Some of our CageMate products feature a unique corner tention cord. These cords are high quality elastic with heavy duty "S" hooks which allow you to easily hook the products to the cage. Due to the elastic they keep the CageMate sufficiently taut.
However we know that animals, such as those adorable guinea pigs, do like to chew on plastic. Therefore we recommend the following arrangement:
Ideally we suggest that you feed the tension cord through the cage, over a horizontal bar, and then angle it diagonally downwards and hook it on as shown in the right hand image above. This keeps the CageMate taut but also keeps temptation out of your piggies way!
Cleaning and Washing
- Remove all items and substrate from product.
- Hand wash only using a mild detergent or pet suitable disinfectant cleaner.
- Line/Air dry ideally though can be dried with a towel
Advisory
Please do not put in a washing machine due to the attached hooks potentially catching inside the machine drum.
We know that correx can be quite plain to look at, and even though big piles of hay are nice for guinea pigs it's not so exciting for the owners.
